I've reformulated the preliminary mission statement after the first draft failed to get more than 50% approval. This will essentially form the first part of our constitution. It is our raison d'etre.
I have removed the statement opposing deception with was added at the request of Siau but which he later felt was perhaps secondary. He also requested the removal of the second aim due to concerns that it could be regarded as a political aim. I have instead reformulated it to more clearly state the intention and remove the word "secular", which Siau seemed to find objectionable.
I submit the revised mission statement for popular approval.
Once we have a formal constitution this will include the method by which such public statements can be ratified and the appropriate means by which they may be reviewed.
In the meantime I offer a forum poll which will run for one week. If it gains over 50% support then it becomes our official mission statement. If not then we shall entertain further amendments and revote.

We believe that ethical values are derived from human need and interest as tested by experience.
We aim to offer community support and moral and ethical guidance based upon empiricism and ethical naturalism.
We aim to redress the unjustified privileges enjoyed by religious beliefs that are based upon blind faith, by elevating the value afforded to beliefs that are based upon rational examination of reality.
We aim to promote the use of critical thinking.

Edited to change "logical examination" to "rational examination"
